Last week we went to the Dali museum in St Petersburg. It's my favorite museum in Florida. It only takes an hour to experience it fully, and the food at the cafe alone is worth the trip.
They had an interesting exhibit which is that they trained a LLM (large language model, like ChatGPT) on Dali's writing and audio recordings. Then, they created a replica of the famous lobster phone which allows people to talk into it and ask questions, which are transcribed. The transcription is fed into the model and then it responds on screen over the phone as well as in Dali's voice through the phone handset. A delightful blend of technology and art, extremely well done.
My daughter has been bullied repeatedly in her school about her spiritual beliefs. Her friend told her recently that she was going to go to hell because she doesn't believe in God. This is not the first time it has happened to my middle daughter, and at both schools she has been attending the last two years. My youngest daughter has had a total of one playdate with a classmate, and last week that classmate told her she was going to hell. At least my daughters will have each other as company.
She asked the phone, "Why is my friend telling me I'll go to H-E-double hockey sticks?" This picture shows what Dali might have said.
The lobster phone generated an image on screen that said: "Ah the labyrithine mysteries of human discourse. Perhaps she perceives an internal spark in you? Or, maybe like a true surrealist, she invites you to explore realms of fiery imagination. Dare to ask her and turn her words into a portrait of understanding."
Art is healing and this museum is a great place to go when your kid is in pain.
